labor and delivery

May 28, 2013 i wake up leaking clear fluid, thinking nothing is wrong so i get ready for my weekly checkup. By this time i was 39 weeks pregnant and about 2 cm dilated. i go to the doctors with my mom, sister, and boyfriend. we go in the room and i sit on bed where they check you and i get up and my mom notices a wet spot on the paper . my mom asks the doctor to check if i was leaking amniotic fluid. and it turns out I was! so my doctor sent me straight to the hospital. she said i was having a baby and of course i didn't have my hospital bag or anything so i was freaking out but excited at the same time. i get to the hospital and they start hooking me up to all the machines and i wait for about four hours until they out me on pitocin to start my labor about 2 hours went by before any thing happens. i was feeling a little bit of contractions but nothing i couldn't handle. an hour went by and basically my whole family was there. my whole room was filled with people! about eleven o,clock at night the contractions were too bad to bare anymore so they gave this medicine to ease some of the pain until i could get an epidural and this medicine made me laugh so hard for no reason at all. they got me an epidural which didn't hurt at all and my contractions went away i couldn't feel anything. another hour went by and my babies heart rate kept going down so they had me move alot to try to get his heart rate back up. it started to go back up slowly so they left it alone until i felt alot of pressure down there so they called a nurse in and i was 10 cm dilated. so they rushed my doctor in and i started to push around 3 in the morning it took about an hour and then he came out at 4:06 a.m. it turns out he had the umbilical cord around his neck and that's why his heart rate was going down. she took it off and he started to breath and cry. and my baby was born. me and my boyfriend started crying and filled with so much joy. he weighed 6 lbs 12 ounces and 19 inches long. my doctor was so good i only had to have 1 stitch and i was up walking after the epidural went away. i was truly blessed that day it was the best day of my life.
my had jaundice really bad so he had to stay under lights until they went down a certain level so we stayed here one extra day then we where suppose too. the last night we stayed stayed in the hospital we had his newborn pictures done. we were just finishing up when tornado sirens started going off. all the patients and visitors and every one else in the hospital had to use the stairs and go all the way down to the basement of the hospital. it was so crowded and the basement started too flood by that time the tornado sirens went off so we all had to go back into our rooms. that was the scariest thing ever, but all was well and we went home the next day.
we named our baby Liam James Rowe-gozum.
